Shipping policy
Order processing time and shipping details
Once your order has been confirmed, please allow 2-3 business days for us to process your order for shipping (this applies to all domestic and international orders). Orders are shipping Monday-Friday.
Shipping prices are calculated during the check-out process and are based on weight (see below for a rate guide), origin location of the item and where it’s being shipped to. We ask that you double check your shipping address when you receive your order confirmation. Whose Backyard is NOT responsible for packages that are lost, missing, or delivered to incorrect addresses.
Once your order is dropped off with the respective postal service, you will receive a confirmation email with a tracking number. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee shipping times but experience tells us it normally takes 7-14 days for the package to arrive at your doorstep. Please also understand shipping times vary depending on shipping destination, time of year, local postal service situation, etc. Particularly with unpredictable delays caused by COVID-19, your understanding is very much appreciated. We will try our best to keep you informed as soon as we are notified of any significant delays.

Orders containing items from multiple locations
At the moment, if your order includes items from both Tokyo and New Jersey, you will be charged two separate shipping fees which is based on the total weight of the products from each location.
We know this is not ideal and we are constantly working towards a solution to streamline shipping costs so you can enjoy products from both our studios at the lowest rate. We will let you know as soon as we update our policy.
International Shipping Fees
International Shipping from Japan to Rest of the World:
Orders under 1kg: JPY 2600 (approx. USD 25 / HKD 190 / AUD 30)
Orders between 1kg-3kg: JPY 3100 (approx. USD 30 / HKD 230 / AUD 40)
Orders over 3kg: To be determined, we will contact you after order is confirmed!
International Shipping from the U.S. to Rest of the World:
Orders under 0.9kg: USD 24 (approx. HKD 187 / AUD 31 / JPY 2500)
Orders between 0.9kg-2kg: USD 30 (approx. HKD 233 / AUD 39 / JPY 3200)
Local Japan Shipping + Fees
Items shipped from Tokyo within Japan are shipped through JP Post (without tracking number).
We charge shipping based on weight.
ALL Japan domestic orders under 2kg: JPY 300
ALL Japan domestic orders between 2kg-5kg: JPY 1000
Local U.S. Shipping + Fees
Items shipped from New Jersey within the US are shipped through US Postal Service (with tracking number).
We charge shipping based on weight.
ALL US domestic orders under 0.9kg: USD 3.00
ALL US domestic orders between 0.9kg-2kg: USD 8.00
International Shipping
International packages from Japan, unless separately specified, are currently shipped through YAMATO with a tracking number. International packages may be subject to customs, duties, or other fees applicable to each country. The customer is responsible for paying any and all customs, duties, and fees issued by the country of destination. Depending on the country, delivery time may be delayed due to customs. Please understand that we at Whose Backyard have no control over these circumstances.
Based on our recent shipping experience, shipping between Japan and the US has taken approximately 7-10 days from the moment it has been dropped off at the post office.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and delays, we are unable to use some of our usual global shipping options such as EMS/SAL. We will keep a close eye on the developments and make sure we offer the best shipping option for you once it becomes available again! In the meantime, we really appreciate your patience and understanding.
